How Babieskin & Kind Was Born

I, Eczema Mumma Kloe, created Babieskin and Kind following the diagnosis of eczema when my baby boy was 10 weeks old. We followed the professional guidance for 10 months, and not only was this not effective, he had periods of worsening skin. It materialised, during these 10 months, we were faced with a medical system that only has the time and resources to focus on prescribing topical steroids as a quick fix, a heath service that doesn't look beyond the surface of the skin; I knew there had to be another way to help my struggling baby. I started to look beyond the prescribed medication, and found ways to treat the root cause instead and now entirely control my sons eczema with zero steroid use or medication. Babieskin and Kind is just what I needed when I was at rock bottom, and I'm so glad you have found us.

Here's our story...

With no known cure for eczema, the tunnel was closing in on us. I desperately searched for ways to improve my son's discomfort with creams and emollients as it seemed he would be living with debilitating eczema throughout childhood, and quite possibly adulthood too.

Having witnessed first hand, the irritation normal clothing caused to his poor weeping and terribly itchy skin, paired with my background and knowledge in textiles, I knew there was something I could do, clothing wise, to help relieve his  symptoms. I started to experiment with clothing and exploring ways to prevent itching. Our personal eczema journey lead me to create Babieskin and Kind as I knew what had helped my son, no doubt could help others.

Along the way, I learned that particular clothing was able to help with breaking the itch-scratch-cycle; reducing inflammation, skin damage and infection risk, as well as allowing the skin to be less irritated and more tolerant and accepting of skincare.

Every child with eczema deserves comfortable, non-irritating clothing as a minimum. My clothing and accessory range goes more than skin deep — not just focusing on flat seams and super soft cottons, I have taken things to levels not seen on the market before.

My range of eczema friendly clothing and accessories has been carefully and cleverly designed to prevent and reduce the damage caused by itching, without our children spending their lives in head-to-toe baby grows and sleep garments, halting their key milestones and growth.

If you are feeling frustrated and helpless, like we did, I am here to show you HOW there absolutely is hope beyond steroid use.

What the future holds...

My ambitions are endless because there is SO MUCH more we can be doing to help children with eczema.

Knowing all too well, from our own experience, where these huge gaps are, I want to do everything I possible can to bridge this.

The thought of knowing that 25% of children born every single day will have eczema and plus the millions of children and adults already suffering at levels that should not be happening, brings back all sorts of trauma and feels unbearable for me to not try and find ways to help.

We are in the process of writing a book that leaves no stone left unturned. Covering everything you need to know about eczema and how to reduce symptoms to a level that will allow your child to enjoy being a child without constant itching, sleepless nights, delayed milestones and unbearable soreness. It will be available in digital form so you can read as and when you have the time and capacity.

We have also joined forces with a registered NHS Dietician who not only specialises in eczema and allergies but has also suffered with eczema her whole life, as well as experienced Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW). Our guides are all signed off to ensure they are medically sound and is supported by current research. You can also attend 1-1 calls with myself and our in-house specialist.

As well as day wear and night wear, we will also be launching the first ever organic clothing garments that are suitable for Wet Wrapping Therapy as well as suitable to wear during the warmer months because we understand how impossible it is for your child to bear any inch of skin out without tearing it apart.

This is just the start!
